The Challenge

The customer brought in an MSI Sword 15 gaming laptop that had suddenly stopped charging. It’s a high-spec machine used for gaming and work — replacing it wasn’t an option, and the downtime was frustrating.

Unfortunately, MSI doesn’t have a dedicated repair centre in Australia, and genuine parts for this model are notoriously difficult to source. The customer had already tried to find a solution but hit a dead end with other service providers.

When the laptop arrived at our workshop, we immediately began diagnosing the issue. It turned out to be a faulty internal charging component — but the original part was not readily available in Australia.

Here’s what we did:

• Identified the root cause of the charging failure.
• Sourced and tested a compatible part from another MSI laptop model.
• Carried out the full repair, testing for voltage stability and charging performance.

Thanks to our experience with gaming laptops and a bit of creative part matching, the job was completed within 4 days — well ahead of what MSI or other stores could have promised.

The MSI Sword 15 was back to full power and running like a beast again. Charging worked flawlessly, and the customer didn’t need to wait weeks for overseas parts or replace the entire machine.
