Service Description

Is your Apple Mac running slower than usual, freezing, or showing strange pop-ups? While macOS is known for its security, it’s not immune to malware, adware, and other unwanted programs — especially if you’ve installed software from unverified sources or clicked on suspicious links.

Common signs of infection include: unexpected ads in Safari or Chrome, new apps you didn’t install, fake virus alerts, browser redirects, or system slowdowns. Some threats run quietly in the background, using system resources or logging your activity.

At Safemode, we provide expert virus removal for all Apple Mac models. Whether you’re using macOS Ventura or an older version, we’ll clean your system properly and help keep it secure going forward.

Pricing Breakdown

Apple Mac virus or malware removal typically starts from $160 to $250 or $280+, depending on the type of infection and how long the cleanup process takes.

Here’s how the pricing generally breaks down:

  • $160–$200 → For basic malware or adware removal where no data backup is needed. This includes clearing out pop-ups, browser hijackers, or unwanted software that’s slowing down your Mac.
  • $220–$250+ → For deeper infections that require multiple scan passes, removal of background processes, or repairing damaged system files.
  • $250–$280+ → For virus removals where we must back up and restore your data before cleaning the system. This is typically needed when the infection risks corrupting or deleting personal files during removal.

What affects the cost:

  • Type and severity of malware (e.g. trojans, system hijackers, stealthware)
  • Whether your Mac is still bootable
  • If macOS reinstallation is needed after cleanup
  • Whether we need to back up and recover your data during the process

➡ The lower end of the price applies to Mac computers we can clean directly without backup.
➡ The higher end applies when we need to protect and restore your data as part of the repair.

Our Process

  • System Review – We ask about recent issues and run a full check of your Mac, including login items, browser extensions, background processes, and apps.
  • Threat Detection – Using trusted Mac-specific malware removal tools, we scan for adware, browser hijackers, tracking software, and other harmful programs.
  • Manual Cleanup – We manually remove infected files, suspicious startup items, and unknown login agents that automated tools may miss.
  • Repair & Optimisation – If malware has changed macOS settings or damaged user profiles, we repair those settings and restore system stability.
  • macOS clean installation – When required, we will format the drive and install a clean macOS. This ensures all malware is completely removed and your Mac has a perfectly clean macOS installed.
  • Final Security Check – We install or update your antivirus tools (if needed), apply macOS security updates, and do a final scan for viruses.

The Technical Stuff

While less common than on Windows, Mac-specific threats are growing:

  • Hacking tools – apps such as AnyDesk, TeamViewer are legitimate software. They are not viruses. However, hackers often abuse these apps to trick victims to let them remotely control their computers via AnyDesk or TeamViewer to inject malicous software.
  • Adware and PUPs – Sneak in through fake app installers or shady browser extensions.
  • Scareware – Fake virus alerts that trick users into downloading more malware.
  • Keyloggers and Trojans – Often spread through pirated software or email attachments.
  • Cryptominers – Hidden background programs that slow your system and use your CPU for mining.
  • Root-level infections – May alter system permissions or launch agents that bypass normal tools.

We use both automated and manual methods to clean your Mac properly — and test to confirm it’s safe to use again.

Virus is often the scapegoat for computer problems. Many novice computer users think their problem is caused by a virus, but the problem might turn out to be a hardware fault instead.
