Service Description

Is your Apple MacBook running out of battery quickly, shutting down at random, or not charging at all? If your battery drains fast or won’t hold a charge, it might be time for a replacement.

Common signs of battery problems include: sudden power drops, swelling under the trackpad or keyboard, “Service Battery” warnings, or a battery that doesn’t charge beyond a certain percentage. Batteries naturally wear out over time — especially if your MacBook is a few years old.

At Safemode, we replace MacBook batteries using high-quality parts that match your model. We’ll get your MacBook back to holding charge like new, safely and professionally.

Pricing Breakdown

Apple MacBook battery replacement typically starts from $190 to $320 or $390+, depending on your MacBook model, battery design, and how complex it is to remove and replace.

Here’s a breakdown based on the type of MacBook:

  • $190–$250 → For older MacBook models such as:

    • MacBook Air (non-Retina)

    • MacBook Pro (non-Retina)
These models have easier-to-access batteries that don’t require full disassembly.

  • $290–$390+ → For most MacBook Pro Retina, MacBook Air Retina, and Apple M-series MacBooks. These models have batteries that are glued in place or located beneath other components, such as the logic board.

What affects the cost:

  • Battery type – Some batteries are modular and removable; others are glued into the chassis
  • Labour complexity – Newer models often require removal of the trackpad, logic board, or speakers to access the battery
  • Model year and design – M1/M2 MacBooks, Retina models, and slim unibody designs are more labour-intensive
  • Genuine vs aftermarket battery availability

➡ Most modern MacBooks fall in the $320–$390 range, especially when disassembly and careful reassembly are required.
➡ At Safemode, we use quality replacement batteries and ensure your MacBook is fully tested for charging, battery health, and thermal performance before return.

Our Process

  • Battery Health Check – We check your current battery’s cycle count, condition, and charging status using macOS diagnostics and third-party tools.
  • Model Verification – We confirm your MacBook’s exact model and year to ensure we use the correct battery type — many models have different voltage, size, and connector layouts.
  • Disassembly – We carefully open the MacBook and remove the old battery. On Retina models, the battery is glued into the top case and requires heat and special tools to remove safely.
  • New Battery Installation – We install a new, high-quality battery, connect it securely, and reseal the MacBook properly.
  • Battery Calibration & Testing – We charge and discharge the battery to calibrate it, test for charging speed and battery health, and confirm the system recognises it correctly.

The Technical Stuff

MacBook batteries vary by design and compatibility:

  • Cycle count limit – Most MacBook batteries are rated for ~1000 charge cycles before needing replacement.
  • Battery types – Lithium polymer (Li-Po) cells are used in all models, but layout and capacity differ across versions.
  • Glued-in batteries – Retina and newer MacBooks often have batteries glued to the chassis, requiring careful removal.
  • M1 & M2 MacBooks – These require extra care due to tightly packed internal components and integrated battery layouts.
  • Swollen batteries – Can press against the trackpad or keyboard and should be replaced immediately for safety.

We only use high-quality batteries that meet or exceed Apple’s original specifications.
