Service Description
Lost important files from your MacBook? Can’t access your desktop, documents, or photos? Whether your MacBook isn’t booting, your SSD has failed, or you’ve accidentally deleted something — we’re here to help recover your data.
Common data loss situations include accidental deletion, system crashes, corrupted macOS, failed SSDs, or liquid damage. In some cases, your MacBook might turn on but get stuck at the loading screen or show a flashing folder with a question mark.
At Safemode, we provide expert data recovery for all MacBook models — including older Intel MacBooks and the latest M1 and M2 Apple Silicon devices. We’ll recover what we can, transfer it to a secure drive, and help you avoid data loss in the future.
Pricing Breakdown
Apple MacBook data recovery typically starts from $200 to $350+, depending on the condition of the drive and the amount of data that needs to be recovered.
Here’s how the pricing generally breaks down:
- $200–$250 → For data recovery from healthy or mildly damaged drives, such as when macOS won’t boot but the drive is still readable. This includes recovering documents, photos, and other files from systems with under 1–2TB of data.
- $250–$350+ → For recovery from partially failing or corrupted drives, or when more data (e.g. over 2–4TB) needs to be recovered. This may include HFS+ or APFS volume repairs, bad sector handling, or deeper-level file extraction.
- $450+ → For recovery from 5TB+ drives, or NAS drives, or server computer drivers, or other severely damaged drives.
What affects the cost:
- Condition of the SSD or hard drive
- Total amount of data needing recovery
- Whether the Mac is accessible or the drive must be removed
- If the SSD is soldered to the logic board (as in some Retina, M1, or M2 models)
- Whether macOS encryption like FileVault or T2 security chip is enabled
➡ You’ll need to provide an external drive to store recovered data. We can supply one if needed (starting from $100, depending on size).
➡ We’ll also advise if a logic board repair is needed to access the drive (common in Macs with non-removable storage).
Our Process
- Initial Assessment – We begin by checking your MacBook’s condition and determining whether the data loss was caused by physical damage, software failure, or something else.
- Drive Access & Backup – If the drive is still readable, we clone it to a secure workspace to prevent further damage before scanning for files.
- File Recovery – Using advanced tools, we scan the drive for deleted, lost, or inaccessible files — including documents, photos, emails, and more.
- File Repair & Sorting – We repair corrupted files (if possible) and organise recovered files into easy-to-understand folders for review.
- Data Transfer – We transfer the recovered data to an external drive or USB — or migrate it to a new Mac if required.
The Technical Stuff
Data recovery depends heavily on your MacBook’s model and the type of damage:
- APFS & HFS+ File Systems – We support recovery from both modern and legacy macOS file formats.
- T2 & Apple Silicon Encryption – Newer MacBooks use hardware encryption tied to the logic board. Recovery is only possible if the board is functional.
- Soldered SSDs – Many MacBooks (especially M1/M2) have storage soldered to the logic board, requiring special tools and procedures.
- Deleted Files – If you’ve emptied the Trash, we can still recover data if it hasn’t been overwritten.
- Corrupted Drives – We can often recover data even from drives that no longer mount in Finder.
- Even if your data is less than the total storage capacity of the drive, recovery tools will still scan the entire drive for any recoverable data. Thus, the bigger the drive, the longer it will take. Recovery tools cannot differentiate what data is important to you. It will scan for all recoverable data, including ones that you might not need.
We always assess what’s possible before starting and let you know the likely outcome before proceeding.
