Service Description

Is your MacBook completely dead, not turning on, showing a black screen, or crashing randomly? It could be a faulty logic board — the main component that controls everything inside your MacBook. When the logic board fails, your MacBook may stop charging, show no display, or behave erratically.

Common signs of logic board failure include: no power, no charging light, random shutdowns, distorted graphics, or components (keyboard, trackpad, USB ports, WiFi) not working. Logic board damage is often caused by liquid spills, power surges, overheating, or failed chips.

At Safemode, we offer professional logic board repair for all MacBook models — including Intel-based MacBooks and Apple Silicon (M1, M2). We use advanced tools to repair your board at the component level, saving you the cost of full replacement.

Pricing Breakdown

Apple MacBook logic board repair typically starts from $350 to $650+, depending on your model, the type of fault, and whether any components on the board need to be replaced.

Here’s how the pricing generally breaks down:

  • $350–$500 → For board-level repairs on older MacBooks with common issues like power problems, charging faults, or minor chip damage. These usually involve repairing or replacing individual components (e.g. capacitors, ICs).
  • $500–$650+ for newer (Retina, M1, M2, etc.) MacBook Air and $650-$850+ for MacBook Pro 14″ with more complex issues such as no power, no display, USB-C charging faults, or corrosion from liquid damage. These require deeper diagnostics, micro-soldering, and precision board work. Repairs on higher-end MacBook Pros such as 16″ MacBook Pros can exceed $850-$950+ price range.

What affects the cost:

  • MacBook model and year (older Intel vs newer M1/M2 systems)
  • Type of damage (short circuit, component failure, liquid exposure)
  • Availability of replacement parts or donor boards
  • Time required for diagnosis and testing after repair

➡ At Safemode, we aim to repair your logic board rather than replace it — saving you hundreds compared to Apple-authorised logic board swaps.
➡ All board-level repairs include full testing to ensure charging, display, sound, USB ports, and WiFi are all working as expected.

Our Process

  • Initial Testing – We run a full check to determine if the logic board is the issue or if it’s caused by a battery, display, or other components.
  • Disassembly – We carefully remove the logic board and inspect it under magnification for corrosion, burnt areas, or signs of short circuits.
  • Board-Level Repair – We identify faulty chips, resistors, or power management circuits and replace them using micro-soldering techniques and hot air rework stations.
  • Ultrasonic Cleaning (if needed) – If the board has liquid damage, we clean it thoroughly using ultrasonic tools to remove corrosion and contaminants.
  • Reassembly & Testing – Once repaired, we reassemble the MacBook and test all major functions — including charging, display, USB ports, keyboard, trackpad, WiFi, and sound.

The Technical Stuff

The logic board is the heart of your MacBook, and each model has its own layout and known failure points:

  • PMICs (Power Management ICs) – Control power flow to the system; common failure point in liquid-damaged boards.
  • PPBUS_G3H Line – If this power rail is missing, the board won’t start at all.
  • Soldered SSDs and RAM – Many newer MacBooks have storage and memory soldered directly to the board, requiring repair over replacement.
  • GPU/Display IC failures – Can cause backlight or graphics issues.
  • M1/M2 SoCs – Apple Silicon models have integrated chips that require specialised repair tools and care.

We use multimeters, thermal cameras, schematic diagrams, and years of experience to trace and fix the fault properly.

Our Difference

Logic board repairs are one of the most technical services we offer — and not something every shop can do. At Safemode, we go beyond basic troubleshooting. We diagnose the board at the component level, carry out precise micro-soldering repairs, and fully test your MacBook before returning it.

We’ve repaired thousands of MacBooks across every generation — from Intel-based boards to the latest M1 and M2 devices. We’re honest about what can be repaired, what’s worth fixing, and always prioritise saving your data where possible.

At Safemode, we give your MacBook a second life — without the cost of a full replacement.
