Service Description

A computer video card, also known as graphics card or GPU, is an important part of your computer. It is responsible for outputing image to the screen. Without a working video card, your PC desktop computer will not function properly.

Common signs of a faulty video card include: PC desktop screen is blank with no image, blue screen errors, horizontal or vertical blocks of lines on computer screen, or distorted image on screen, or your desktop PC may crash during games or graphics-demanding apps.

Diagnosing video cards can be difficult and require experience, because video card problems can be very similar to a fault with other parts. For example, vertical blocks of lines on computer screen can also be caused by a faulty screen instead of a faulty video card; or if your computer screen is just blank, it can be caused by a faulty RAM, or a faulty CPU or motherboard, or a faulty video card.

Our experienced technicians are capable of diagnosing and identifying PC desktop computer’s video card issues with higher certainty.

Pricing Breakdown

PC desktop computer video card replacement typically starts from $280+ for standard entry-level video cards, and can go above $1,000 or even $4,000+ for high-end gaming video cards, depending on your current video cards, what your games or apps require, and how much video memory you’re upgrading to.

Here’s how the pricing usually breaks down:

  • $280 → For standard entry-level video card replacements. This is common for basic office PC desktops, basic home use, or older systems.
  • $450-$490+ → For basic gaming video card replacements, or for computers that need resonable graphics processing power.
  • High-end video cards can cost well over $4,000, or $6,000  or even higher if you are willing to spend for the best gaming experience or if your work require the best graphics.

What affects the cost:

  • Video memory (2GB, 4GB, 6GB, etc)
  • Power supply requirements (higher end video cards will require more power)
  • Your games or apps’ recommend system requirements

Our Process

  • Initial Check – We run GPU diagnostics to check for hardware faults, compatibility issues, or performance bottlenecks. We also look for video card errors and warnings in Windows event log.
  • GPU compatibility check – The new video card needs to be compatible with other parts in your computer.
  • New video card Installation – We remove the old card and install a new one in. Drivers are also installed after that.
  • Final Testing – A final test is done to ensure the problem does not reproduce.

The Technical Stuff

Video card replacements involve a few key factors:

  • Form Factor – PC desktops use low-profile and high-profile video cards.
  • General Compatibility – Most new video cards are installed in PCI Express slots.
  • Power requirements – Each video card has its own power consumption requirement. Your computer PSU must meet the requirements.
  • Dual-video card setup – High-end computers may use dual video card setup for much improved graphics performance.
  • Video cards typically last 3-5 years (sometimes more). A cheaper, standard video cards often outlast a more expensive, high-performance one.
  • While most video cards in PC desktop computers are replaceable, video cards in PC laptops, All-in-one PC desktop computers are most likely not replaceable.

The process of replacing a PC desktop video card the easiest part. If you look up online, you will find instructions that look “very easy”. However, determining if it is a fault with your video card is much harder. Video cards can get quite expensive and you don’t want to buy an expensive card only to find out that the problem remains. We always need to do extensive testings before replacing video cards.
