Service Description

Is your PC laptop computer completely dead, not turning on, or shutting off randomly? Power issues are one of the most serious — and common — problems in laptops. If your device isn’t charging, won’t respond to the power button, or shuts down suddenly, there’s likely a deeper fault.

Power problems can be caused by a faulty charging port, damaged motherboard, battery failure, or even short circuits caused by liquid damage. In some cases, it might seem like the battery is the issue, but the real fault lies in the power circuit.

Our experienced technicians can provide a price estimate for these problems within minutes.

Pricing Breakdown

Power issues in PC laptops can range from simple to complex. In some cases, it’s just a faulty charger. But if internal repair is needed, the cost depends on what’s causing the problem.

Here’s how pricing typically breaks down:

  • Free or low-cost → If the issue is only with the power adaptor (charger), we’ll test it and may recommend a replacement without any internal repair.
  • $220–$280+ → For repairs where the charging port is faulty but is a separate part from the motherboard. These ports are easier to replace and don’t require advanced board work.
  • $350–$450+ → If the charging port is soldered to the motherboard, or if there’s a power-related fault on the logic board (e.g. faulty power IC, shorted component), the repair becomes more complex and requires board-level work.
  • $500+ → For high-end laptops (e.g. gaming models like Dell Alienware, ASUS ROG, Metabox, etc.), where parts are more expensive and disassembly is more involved. Repairs often include USB-C charging port work, power rail diagnostics, or replacement of multiple components.

What affects the cost:

  • Whether the fault is with the charger, charging port, or motherboard
  • The type of charging port (standard, magnetic, USB-C)
  • Laptop model – gaming and slim laptops are more complex to repair
  • The availability and cost of replacement parts

➡ We always test your laptop and charger thoroughly before starting any repair — so you’ll only pay for what’s truly needed.

Our Process

  • Initial Diagnosis – We check for signs of life: LED lights, fan movement, charging response, or any beep codes.
  • Charger & Battery Check – We test with a working charger and known-good battery to rule out external issues.
  • Disassembly – If needed, we open the laptop to inspect the motherboard, charging port, and power circuitry.
  • Component Testing – We test internal fuses, voltage regulators, and connectors to locate short circuits or faults.
  • Repair or Replace – Depending on the issue, we replace faulty parts (charging port, battery, DC jack), or carry out board-level repair.
  • Final Testing – Once repaired, we test charging, battery life, and power stability to ensure the fix is complete.

The Technical Stuff

Power issues may involve:

  • Charging port faults – Loose or broken jacks can stop power from reaching the battery.
  • Dead battery or BMS failure – Battery management systems inside smart batteries can fail and stop charging.
  • Motherboard-level faults – Short circuits in the power rail, blown MOSFETs, or failed DC input chips.
  • Most USB-C ports are now part of a PC laptop’s motherboard. This means a broken USB-C port is a motherboard repair.
  • The power button on your computer is rarely the fault.
  • If your computer is not turning on with a working power adaptor, it’s not a battery fault. All PC laptops should turn on normally with a working power adaptor even when its battery is faulty.

Our Difference

Power issues can be tricky and misleading — what seems like a dead battery could be a fault on the motherboard, or a shorted charging port causing a shutdown. Having spare parts, combined with a multimeter and experience, helps us identify the problem and ensure the best PC laptop computer power issue repair.

We also outsource certain micro-soldering work to our supplier for board-level repairs.
