Service Description

Spilled water, coffee, or any liquid on your laptop? It happens to the best of us — a knocked-over glass, rain through an open window, or even a splash in the kitchen.

Water damage can cause your laptop to shut down, stop charging, type on its own, or not turn on at all. Even if it seems fine now, corrosion can build up inside over time and cause bigger problems later. The sooner you bring it in, the better your chances of saving it.

To fix a water-damaged laptop, we fully open and clean the internals, test for damaged parts, and replace anything that’s no longer working — like the keyboard, battery, or motherboard. It’s a delicate process that should only be handled by experienced technicians.

Pricing Breakdown

The cost of PC laptop water damage repair typically starts from $350 to $450+, but the final price depends on how much damage has been done and which parts need to be repaired or replaced.

Here’s how the pricing usually works:

  • $250–$350 → This is the most commong price for most PC laptops that has light-to-moderate liquid damage where cleaning and minor repairs are enough to restore functionality. This includes board cleaning, corrosion removal, and basic testing. The price can be $350-$450 for certain high-end PC laptops with complicated design, ultra slim-design that are difficult to or very delicated to take apart, eg certain Dell Alienware, Razer, MSI, high-end HP ZBook laptops or similar laptops.
  • $400–$700+ → For severe liquid damage, especially in high-end or gaming laptops like recent models of Dell Alienware or Metabox. These often require logic board repairs, keyboard or screen replacements, or multiple components being changed. You should also refer to PC laptop motherboard repair for more information.

What affects the cost:

  • How much liquid entered the system and how quickly it was turned off
  • Whether the motherboard, keyboard, screen, or battery were affected
  • The brand and model – gaming and premium models tend to have more expensive parts
  • If data recovery or replacement parts are also needed

➡ The longer the liquid stays inside, the more damage it causes — and the higher the cost.
➡ At Safemode, we always assess the damage first and give you an honest quote before starting any repair.

Our Process

  • We start with a full inspection to identify all areas affected by liquid.
  • The laptop is fully disassembled and carefully dried (if it hasn’t already dried out).
  • We clean corrosion from the motherboard, connectors, and other internal parts using specialized tools and solutions.
  • We test all key components: keyboard, trackpad, battery, motherboard, ports, and screen.
  • Any damaged parts are replaced with new ones sourced from trusted suppliers.
  • After reassembly, we run thorough final tests to ensure everything works safely and reliably.

The Technical Stuff

Water damage can impact many components, depending on where the liquid went:

  • Motherboard – can short-circuit quickly and cause power issues
  • Keyboard & trackpad – often stop responding or behave erratically
  • Battery – may no longer hold a charge or become unsafe to use
  • Charging port, USB ports – can corrode and lose connectivity
  • Screen or display cable – may flicker, go black, or show lines

Even a small spill can do serious harm if left untreated. That’s why a proper teardown and internal inspection is critical.
